v1.2.0Two-way Notion sync, on your wallpaper

A quiet place
for the thoughts

you keep.

The app for everything worth remembering — reminders you can’t miss, lessons you’ve learned, blessings you’re grateful for and sayings you live by. Each in its own space, brought back right when it matters. Private, offline and free.

Five collections

One app, five ways of remembering.

A quote is not a chore and a blessing is not a habit. Smaran keeps them apart, each with its own tab, its own colour and its own rhythm.

  • 01

    Remember

    Core thoughts & reminders

Call Ma before the week runs out.

  • 02

    Learnings

    Daily insights & wisdom

    Ship the boring version first.

  • 03

    Blessings

    Gratitude & moments

The chai on the balcony at 6am.

  • 04

    Sayings

    Quotes & mantras

Simplicity is the prerequisite for reliability.

  • 05

    Try Doing

    Experiments & habits

    Walk after dinner. No phone.

What it does

Quietly capable, loudly private.

Everything below ships today. Nothing here needs a subscription, a login or a server that could disappear next year.

Two-way Notion sync

Point each collection at a Notion database and Smaran keeps both sides honest. Edit on your phone or in Notion; the sync pill tells you exactly where things stand.

Local first, always

Every thought is written to your device first. No account, no server round-trip, no empty screen when the signal drops.

PIN lock & screen guard

Gate the app behind a PIN and blank the preview in the app switcher, so a shoulder never reads what you wrote.

Thoughts that come back

Schedule a thought for a date, or let it repeat. Remembrance is a rhythm, not a one-off notification.

One daily nudge

A single reminder at a time you choose. Not a stream of badges competing for the same attention.

Share straight in

Send text from any app into Smaran through the Android share sheet. The good line from a thread lands in the right collection.

Streaks worth keeping

A ring that fills, a streak that counts, and a small burst of confetti on the days you clear the list.

Focus mode

One thought, full screen, nothing else. For when the list is the distraction.

Your data, exportable

Back up to a file and restore it anywhere. Nothing is held hostage, because nothing was ever taken.

Tuned to the last pixel

Seven typefaces, six note colours plus a custom picker, corner radius by the pixel, five edge treatments, four navigation bars, light and dark. Make it yours and it stays yours.

Make it yours

Most apps offer a dark mode. Smaran offers a dial.

Your wallpaper, your colours, your corners, your type. Change something below — this is the real screen, over the real background, re-themed live.

Where your words live

Three places your thoughts could go. Smaran uses one.

There is no Smaran account because there is no Smaran server. The only copy that leaves your device is the one you deliberately send to your own Notion.

  1. Your phone

Every thought is written here first, and works here alone.

  2. Your Notion

Optional. Your workspace, your databases, your token.

    Opt-in
  3. Our servers

There are none. Nothing to breach, bill or shut down.

Questions

The short answers.

Do I need an account?

No. Smaran has no sign-up, no login and no server of its own. Thoughts live on your device from the moment you write them.

Where is my data actually stored?

On your phone. If you connect Notion, a copy also lives in the Notion databases you chose, under your own Notion account. There is no third place.

Is Notion required?

Not at all. Sync is opt-in. Skip it and Smaran is a fully offline app; connect it later and your existing thoughts come along.

Does it work without internet?

Yes, completely. Reading, writing, scheduling and completing all work offline. Sync simply waits for a connection and resumes.

Is there an iOS version?

Android is available today. The app is built with Expo, so an iOS build is on the roadmap -- note that the Android share sheet integration is Android-only for now.

What does "Smaran" mean?

Smaran is Sanskrit for remembrance -- the act of holding something in mind and returning to it, rather than merely storing it.

Start with one thought
worth keeping.

Smaran is free, has no account, and asks for nothing you would not already give a paper notebook.
